VDOT -M

Vidgliptin andMetformin HCL

VDOT -M (Vildagliptin and Metformin HCL) by Chemisis Pharmaceuticals is an effective combination therapy for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Adherence to the prescribed dosage and regular monitoring are essential for optimal blood sugar control and minimizing potential side effects.
VDOT -M by Chemisis Pharmaceuticals combines Vildagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride, two oral antidiabetic agents, for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This combination helps control blood sugar levels by enhancing the body’s response to insulin and reducing the amount of sugar produced by the liver.
  • Vildagliptin: A DPP-4 inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which in turn increase insulin release and decrease glucagon levels in the blood in a glucose-dependent manner. This helps to lower blood glucose levels.
  • Metformin Hydrochloride: A biguanide that works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
The typical dosage of VDOT -M is based on the individual patient’s condition and response to treatment. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with Metformin. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Vildagliptin may also cause headache, dizziness, and joint pain. Serious side effects are rare but can include lactic acidosis (a rare but serious complication of Metformin), pancreatitis, and hypersensitivity reactions. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels and renal function is recommended while using this medication.
